Clarence "Turbo" Mims, 71, of Gainesville, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at his residence. The son of Willie Charles Mims, Sr. and Emma (Dixon) Mims, he was born on June 7, 1953 in Palatka. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and attended Middleton High School, Crescent City. He enlisted in the United States Army and earned an honorable discharge. He worked as an agricultural worker and leather manufacturer. Clarence enjoyed fishing, singing, dancing, drawing, reading and watching sports. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his brother Willie Charles Mims, Jr.
To cherish his memories: children, Clarence Headen, Sonya Mims; grandchildren, Gisele Kersey, Isabella Guevara, Clarence Headen, Jr., London Dixon, Sincere Headen, Paris Shiner, Jaelon Norman, Hanner Norman; sisters, Essie Thomas, Barbara Lynne Mims, Lue G. Mims; brothers, Mack Arthur (Shirley) Mims, Sr., Edward Mims, James (Valerie) Mims, Sr., Emmett Mims, Bobby Mims; aunt, Frances Brunson, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, September 7 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church (South Campus), 608 Randolph Street, Crescent City. Interment: Jacksonville National Cemetery.
