Clarence "Cherokee" "Boss Hog" Bunch, 85, of Palatka (formerly of Hawthorne), entered the sunset of life on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Crestwood Nursing Center, Palatka, following an extended illness. A native of Hawthorne, Clarence was born on Thursday, October 20, 1927 to James Bunch and Ida Mae Brightmon. He received his early education in Alachua County School District. He was a resident of Palatka for over 45 years. He was a former member of Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church, Palatka and his favorite scripture was Psalm 23. Clarence was formerly employed as a fisherman's guide, bounty hunter (Brooks Bail Bonds Agency) and Bill Germany Texaco Oil Company. He was an associate member of the Florida Sheriff's Association. He was an awesome, dedicated father who enjoyed telling jokes and was a giving person. In his spare time, he loved fishing, hunting and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, Clarence was preceded in eternal rest by his children, Arthur J. Bunch; Maecola Bunch; Clarence Bunch, Jr.; Henry L. Bunch; siblings, William Brightmon; Burt Hill; Charles Nelson; Mary Ceil Allen; Louise Hill; Rosena Hill; Esalen Zimmerman; Samuel "Sambo" Nelson, Jr.; Bertha Davis. (Christine) Bunch, Palatka; Mary Bunch, Gainesville; Joseph Bush, Palatka; Willie E. (Benita) Hope, Atlanta, GA; Loretia Bunch, Orange Park; devoted daughter, Karen B. (Antwon) Bethel, Palatka; siblings, Henry (Mattie) Hill, Compton, CA; Issac "Ike" (Era) Hill, Jr., Sun City, CA; Eva Mae (Nathan) Buie; James (Grace) Hill, both of Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-law, Olivia D. Nelson, Palatka; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a host other relatives and caring friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 26th at the "Chapel of Serenity." The Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m. Saturday, October 27th, at the "Chapel of Serenity" 2400 Madison Street, Palatka. His son, Elder Johnny Bunch, Associate Minister of To God Be The Glory Holiness Church, is the eulogist. The family will assemble at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Serenity," 2400 Madison Street, Palatka.
