Charlie Willie "C.W." Williams, 76, of Hastings, entered the sunset of life on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at Select Specialty Hospital, Orlando South. A native of Denmark, South Carolina, he was born on Thursday, April 21, 1938 to Charlie and Mamie Lee (Cooper) Williams. He was educated at the Rosenwald East School in Denmark SC., (Bamberg SC School District.) He subsequently moved to Jersey City, New Jersey and was employed by the John Edwards Steel Company. He has resided in Hastings, Florida since 1962. He was a retired fertilizer tractor operator, employed by Farm Chemicals of East Palatka for over 30 years. He was a former member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, Hastings. His hobbies included fishing and providing lawn maintenance services. In addition to his parents, "C.W." is preceded in eternal rest by his siblings, Emily Adams, Elizabeth Grant, Alberta Minnis, Luna Mae Williams, Maggie Williams, Charlie Williams, James Williams, and John Williams; his children's mother, Mozella Williams Marshall. He leaves to cherish his memories: children, Linda Jones and Johnnie Williams, both of Palm Coast; Apostle Richard B. (Maricelle) Jackson, Orlando; Carolyn (Jenifer) Gilyard, Satsuma; Charlie (Cindy) Williams and Louis (Wilma) Williams, both of San Mateo; Toni (Bishop Clyde) Witherspoon, Hastings; Cynthia Williams, Palatka; Tereatha Williams, Starke; 28 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Sammie L. Williams, Jersey City, NJ; sister, Mamie Lee Rivers, Jersey City, NJ; goddaughter, Breacya Kinard, Hastings; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 16, 2014 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Pastor. His son, Minister Charlie Williams, Jr., Associate Minister, 2nd Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, San Mateo, is the Eulogist. Reverend Mary Alice Murphy, pastor of New Bethel A.M.E. Church, San Mateo, is presiding. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
