Charles Lorenzo Williams, 65, of Gainesville, entered the sunset of life on Monday, March 18, 2024 at HCA FL North Florida Hospital, Gainesville. Charles Lorenzo Williams was born on Sunday, May 4, 1958, in Palatka, FL, to James and Ruby (Owens) Williams. He was educated in the Putnam County School District and graduated from Palatka South High School in 1976. Charles pursued higher education at Bethune Cookman University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting in 1980 (cum laude graduate). Following his academic achievements, Charles embarked on a commendable 41-year career with The Florida Department of Revenue, culminating in his retirement on December 29, 2023.
In 1990, Charles united in holy matrimony with Brenda Allen Williams, with whom he shared 33 blissful years. Their union was a testament of love and commitment. In 1999, Charles and Brenda relocated to Gainesville, FL, where they renewed their faith in Christ and became devoted members of Compassionate Outreach Ministries, led by the late Bishop Larry J. Dennison and Pastor Shepherd, Margaret Dennison.
Throughout his life, Charles prioritized his family, enjoying cherished moments with his wife, Brenda, and two children, Carlos Williams, and Rashad Russell. He epitomized the roles of a loving husband, dedicated father, and inspiring leader.
Additionally, Charles valued relationships deeply, fostering connections with family, classmates from high school and college, and his community. His warmth, generosity, and kind-hearted nature endeared him to all who knew him. The memories of shared moments and his enduring love will forever be engraved in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing Charles Lorenzo Williams.
In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in eternal rest by his grandparents, Alice Owens & James Williams, Alice Williams & James Williams Sr.; brothers, Leroy Tyrone Williams, Terence "Terry" Williams; special aunts & uncles, Phennie Bolton, Ophelia Coone, Arthur Coone, Clifford Coone, Wilford Williams, Wilbert Williams; special nephew, Guy Thomas III.

Visitation of family and friends will be 4-6 p.m., Friday, March 29 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Charles' Life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor. Reverend Alvin W. Oliver, St. Johns Missionary Baptist Church of Melrose, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
