Obituary

Charles Gilford Harris, II, 70, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at his residence. A native of Dothan, AL., he was the youngest of ten children born to Charles Sr., and Ethel Mae Neely Harris, born on Thursday, November 7, 1944. He was educated in the Houston County, AL School District and was formerly employed with the Dixie Egg Company in Dothan. He has resided in the Palatka area for over 20 years. Charles was an avid auto mechanic who was passionate about auto repairing. His hobbies included fishing and traveling. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal grandmother, Mattie Myers. He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Johnnie Mae Salmon-Harris, Palatka; daughters, Sonia (Franklin) Waite and Michelle Wright, both of Jacksonville; Rachel (Frank) Goodson, Dothan, AL; sons, Charles Harris, III, and Tracey Harris, both of Palatka; 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, January 30 at Flagg's Chapel of Serenity. The Homegoing Celebration will be 10 a.m., Saturday, January 31 at the Chapel. Apostle Carol Baker, Pastor of Kingdom Dominion Assembly, Jacksonville, is the Eulogist.
