SMSgt (USAF Retired) Charles Lee "Chuck" Brantley, Sr., 58, of Rockledge FL, entered the sunset of life at 10:35 a.m., on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Dr. Jey Pillai Center for Hospice Care, Rockledge.  A native of Allendale, SC, he was born on Wednesday, October 19, 1960, to Marion and Tressie Lee (McDuffie) Brantley, Sr. Brantley was raised and educated in Crescent City and was a 1978 graduate of Crescent City Jr-Sr. High School. He was popular with his classmates, earning the acclaimed class of '78 Senior Superlative, " Most School Spirit" and also played the trumpet in the Crescent City Raiders' marching band.   He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Delayed Entry Program in March of 1978, just prior to graduation and entered active duty on September 18, 1978 (a month before his 18 ^th birthday.) Over his distinguished 28-year military career, he served as an Apprentice, Journeyman, Craftsman, and Personnel Superintendent and his numerous decorations, medals, badges and citations includes: AF Meritorious Service Medal; AF Joint Service Commendation Medal; AF Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Cluster; AF Achievement Medal; AF Outstanding Unit Award; AF Organizational Excellence Award; and the National Defense Service Medal. He was also the honored recipient of the Headquarters United States Air Force Europe Personnel Manager of the Year Award in 1992. Brantley retired from his honorable active duty service in September 2006 as the Military Personnel Flight Superintendent, 45 ^th Mission Support Squadron. Upon retirement, He continued his education and graduated from Columbia College with an Associate of Science degree in General Studies. He valued his military service, his family, and sports. He was an avid sports fan and season ticket holder for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Florida State Seminoles.   While engaged in his favorite pastimes, you would find him fishing, grilling, or dancing. In addition to his father ; he is preceded in eternal rest by his sister , Lillian Burgess; aunts , Maudell Hicks, Evelynn Wright, and Hattie Lee Jordan; uncles , Bernard Wright Sr., Oregen Wright, Leroy Wright, and Albert Brantley.

He leaves to cherish his memories: beloved mother, Tressie Lee Brantley, Crescent City; devoted daughter and son, Inez (Ben) Dodge, Satsuma; Charles "CJ" Brantley, Jr, Duluth, GA; 5 grandchildren , Kenyon Dodge, Adelina Dodge, Jaylius Brantley, Cyani Brantley, Amaya Brantley; sister , Clotelia (Jim) Taylor, Augusta, GA; brother , Marion (Terri) Brantley Jr., Crescent City; brother-in-law , Darrell Burgess, Crescent City; as a brother, Mickey (Kim) Wright, Allendale, SC; aunts & uncles , Evangelist Annie Ruth Wright, Mary Alice Simmons, and Bobby Wright, all of Allendale, SC; nieces/nephews, Marion (Genora) Brantley, III, Derrell (Katrina) Fields, Kandy Brantley, Dwayne (Jennifer) Cook, Joseph Brantley, Marcus Brantley, Melissa (Eddie) Hall, Brian (Ashely) Brantley, Crystal Brantley, Keisha Hankins; and a host of other relatives and friends.

On Saturday, January 12, visitation of family and friends from 1-3 p.m., with Homegoing Celebration at 3 p.m. with full military honors at Mount Tabor First Baptist Church (South Putnam Campus), 608 Randolph St., Crescent City, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Senior Pastor. Interment: 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 14, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
