Ms. Cathy Jo Newman 61, formerly of Carroll County, Virginia finally won her battle with lung cancer. Ms. Newman is now celebrating with King Jesus in her heavenly home. Ms Newman passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka, Florida . Ms. Newman was born in Hillsville, Carroll County, Virginia to Joseph C. Nester (deceased) and Sharon Dalton (surviving).
In addition to her father, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Barry Neal Newman, sister, Nannette Marshall, and special friend Tony Langston.
She leaves to cherish her memories: mother, Sharon Dalton of Sylvatus, Virginia, son Michael George Jefferson of Pennsylvania, Son Kenny Adam Newman and Special Daughter/Daughter In Law Faith Nicole Newman of Hillsville Virginia, Sister Christine Mendez-Guzman and Brother in law Onesimo of Sylvatus, Virginia, Two Special Grandchildren Granddaughter Bridget Nicole Newman and Grandson William Barry Newman, several special nieces and nephews she loved very much.
Ms. Newman was a long time cashier at the Galax, VA Walmart and dearly loved her Walmart family. Ms. Newman loved fishing and collecting as hobbies. Ms. Newman also loved the Lord and made sure her family knew about God. She was a very great mother, grandmother, sister, coworker, wife and friend. She lived a good life working hard and taking care of her family.
The family wishes to thank the Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center in Palatka, Florida Special thanks to all nurses who helped Ms. Newman fight her battle with cancer. The family also wishes to thank everyone for their support and prayers and encouragement during this difficult time. The family also wishes to thank Vaughn-Guynn funeral home and staff of Hillsville for their assistance and hard work as well. The family also wishes to thank Rev. Karl N. Flagg and staff for the support and professional assistance during this difficult time.
A private memorial celebration of life service is planned at a later date to be announced by her family.
