Obituary

Catherine Lowe Daniels, 91, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at her residence. A native of Jacksonville and daughter of Ester Mae Rosemond and Thomas Lowe, she was born on Saturday, March 22, 1930. Catherine accepted Christ at an early age and joined Morning Star Baptist Church, Daytona Beach, under the leadership of Rev. Driscoll. She was educated in the Volusia County Public School System and subsequently attended Bethune Cookman College. After meeting her husband, Elijah Daniels, she became a migrant worker, frequently traveling the East Coast to look for fieldwork. In 1953, they were traveling back to Florida from New York, and their car broke down in Baltimore where they decided to settle and make it home. God created Catherine to be a caring and nurturing person. She was always willing to take in others until they could get on their feet. This spirit of caring prompted her to take in children that were not her own and raise them as if they were. Catherine was a person who believed in helping her community. In the 60s, as a member of the Cherry Hill community, she was instrumental in starting 2 major programs: the summer lunch program and the mini bus service that carried Cherry Hill residents to and from their doctor's appointments. When she was able to buy her first home on Lauretta Ave, everyone looked up to her. Catherine's home became a haven for community meetings, she was involved in politics and campaigned for Michael and Parren J. Mitchell. She opened her home to help Larry Young (among others) conduct campaign meetings.

Catherine had a great sense of humor and she was very out-spoken. She always said what she meant and meant what she said. She loved and protected her family.

Catherine, in the early 60s was a member of the Spiritual Temple Church under the leadership of Bishop Lee. She served on the usher's ministry, pastor's support and sang on the choir and Sunday Broadcast. She loved to sing and had a great voice even before death. She also formed a family group called the Joy Light Gospel Singers. In 1979 she started attending the New Antioch Church where she later joined under the leadership of Bishop Orlando A. Wilson. She was a member of the Outreach Ministry, Senior's Ministry, and Music Ministry. Because of her health, Catherine relocated back to Florida and became a member of the New Found Favor Ministries, Bishop Philip King, Pastor, where she served on the Mother's Board. She loved both of her pastors, and always held them in high regard.

She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter , Harriett Mooring Noakes, Baltimore, MD; bonus children, Bernadette (William) Spenser, Richmond, VA; Mark (April) Thomas, Patrick (Laura) Thomas, MA; Franis (Pam) Thomas, NJ; sisters, Zelma Bradford and Ima Horn, Atlanta GA; brother, Wendell Rosemond, Atlanta, GA; 10 grandchildren ; 10 great grandchildren;  9 great grandchildren: 8 great-great grandchildren; special friends , Charlene and Peter Descartes, Mother Vernetta King, Joan Williams, Mary Belton, Dorothy Bivens. Beaula Brown, Bernadette and a host of extended family and friends.

Celebration of Catherine's Life will be 2 p.m., Saturday, April 9 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity" with visitation one hour prior. Bishop Phillip King, New Found Favor Ministries, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Resthaven Cemetery, San Mateo.
