Catherine Roberta "Kit" Johnson Hills, 78, of East Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at her residence. The daughter of Earnest and Thelma Johnson, she was born on Monday, November 27, 1944 in Palatka.

She was educated through the Putnam County Public School System, graduating from Central Academy High School, Class of 1962. Upon graduation, Catherine attended the Miami Barber School in Miami, Florida. She then returned home to work at Lacey's Barber Shop in Palatka.  She was employed with Georgia-Pacific, where she retired after many years of service.

Catherine was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church, East Palatka, where she was a member of the Usher Board and Choir.

After retiring, Catherine enjoyed gardening, entertaining, eating crabs and watching western shows.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Jettie C. Hills, Jr.; son, Vincent P. Hills.

She leaves to cherish her memories: granddaughter, Vinshanda (SSG Antonio) Graves; great-grandchildren, Antonio and Antoria Graves; sisters, Dorothy Mullen, Ora Bell Taylor; sister-in-law, Evelyn Hills; goddaughters, Phyllis Wright, Lisa West; special friend, Phyllis Watson; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 4-6 p.m., Friday, September 1; Celebration of Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, September 2 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Reverend Theodore McRae, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Federal Point, officiating. Interment will be in Pattersonville Cemetery, East Palatka.
