Carrie Bell "Bit" Davis Mims, 70, of Crescent City, entered the sunset of life on Thursday (Thanksgiving Day), November 23, 2017 at Florida Hospital, Deland. A native of Quitman, GA, she was born on Saturday, August 23, 1947 to Wonderful and Maggie Mae (Head) Davis. She was educated in the Brooks County, GA., School District. At an early age she was baptized and joined Quitman's Historic Beulah Baptist Church. In 1966, Carrie relocated to Crescent City and met Mack Arthur Mims, Sr. Together they became the proud parents of Mack, Jr. Gary, Constance and Cruz. Carrie was previously employed with Bill Newbold Ferneries for many years and later was employed by the Putnam County School District as a cafeteria worker at Crescent City High School. Carrie was a member and Deaconess of Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Michael Robinson. "Bit" was "one of a kind," she would tell you just what was on her mind, like it or not and also had a sense of humor. She enjoyed dancing at family gatherings, loved fishing and was an avid football fan. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. A strong woman, she fought a good fight, she kept the faith, and finished the course.
In addition to her parents, Carrie was preceded in eternal rest by her stepmother, Wessie Lee Davis; son, Gary P. Mims, Sr; grandchildren, Mackel and Mackayla Mims, siblings, Mary F. Ross, Wonderful Davis, Jr., Roscoe Davis, Sr., Van Davis, Sr. Estella Davis, Mozell Cason, Harriet Davis, Bertha Miller, Clarence Cason, Jr., and Willie B. Cason.
