Calvin "Kevin" Devon Ayers, 56, entered the sunset of life on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at Shands at UF, Gainesville. A native of Exmore, VA., Calvin was born on Saturday, April 13, 1957 to Paul and Barbara Beech Ayers. He was educated in Northampton County, VA., School District. He was a Christian and of the Baptist faith. Calvin was a pulpwood laborer for over 30 years who enjoyed spending time with family, working with lumber and sharpening knives. Calvin was preceded in eternal rest by his parents; maternal grandparents, Walker & Cora Beech, paternal grandparents, Jim & Betsy Ayers. Those who cherish his legacy: devoted daughter, Jennifer Ayers Jones; former wife, Lula M. Ayers; stepchildren, Pompie Drake, Betsy Drake, and Randy Drake, all of Palatka; sibings, Paulette, Beverly, Paul, Ronald, Harold, Don, Anthony and John Ayers, all of Trenton, NJ; 12 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, November 15, 2013 one hour prior to services. A Celebration of Calvin's Life will be 10 a.m., Friday at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity."
