IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Callie Ann
Green
November 18, 1953 – May 7, 2021
Callie Ann Green, 67, of Penney Farms, entered the sunset of life on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Baptist Medical Center, Downtown Campus, Jacksonville. Callie Ann Green Bennett, a native and lifelong resident of Penney Farms, FL., was born to Mr. Perkin and Mrs. Lily Jean Green on Wednesday, November 18, 1953. "Ann" as she was affectionately called, was one of six children and the older of two daughters. Ann was educated in the Clay County School System, where she attended R.C. Bannerman Elementary School and a 1971 graduate of Clay High School. Following graduation, Ann was gainfully employed by the Town of Penney Farms at the Penney Retirement Community. She continued her environmental services employment career at the Comfort Inn, Orange Park Medical Center, and at Doctor's Inlet Elementary School.
At an early age she along with her brother and sister began attending church. She accepted Christ as her Lord and personal Savior and was baptized at new Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Penney Farms, under the pastoral leadership of Reverend John T. Haymon. During her youthful years, she was active in the youth department and faithfully attended Baptist Training Union. As an adult, she continued her spiritual journey with Christ and she made attending church an integral part of her and her children's lives. She truly loved her family and was the mother of two beautiful girls, Promona Linette and Valerie; and two handsome boys, Brian Antonio and Miguel Jerod and she was proud of all of them. The same values that her mother instilled in her were instilled in her children, including active participation in Sunday School, Bible Study, Vacation Bible School, and the Fifth Sunday Union. There was never a question as to if you wanted to go, it was always, be ready to go. Due to her persistence in worshipping God, it created a sincere love for the Lord within Promona's heart. Ann along with her Mother and Promona developed a strong love for participating in a broad spectrum of religious services. As the Lord blessed Promona with a beautiful gift to sing and she was being requested to sing all over the Clay County region, Ann accompanied her with a brilliant smile upon her face to support her. Ann bragged on all of her children because she was so proud of their successful outcomes. Although Ann suffered and endured several significant losses during her life, including her daughter Valerie at a tender age and then daughter, Promona and recently her granddaughter, Desiree, which devastated her, she never became angry, never questioned God, and persevered with dignity and grace, though the pain was great and overwhelming.
Ann loved gardening and had a natural green thumb because everything she touched blossomed. She valued the family's reunions, whether or not they required traveling or simply celebrating right here in Penney Farms or Green Cove Springs. Family was very important and she especially enjoyed the crab boils (an open request for her to prepare her delicious deviled eggs.) She loved and was happy to sit around laughing and simply spending quality time with family members. She also appreciated her son, Brian taking her on cruises to Atlanta, GA., and numerous other cities, and was especially excited when she took her first flight to California to attend her son Jerrod's wedding. She could never stop talking about those traveling experiences. She equally loved Penney Farms and she never desired or intended to reside anywhere else. Ann was a straight-up person who said what she meant and meant what she said. It was not open for discussion or deliberation. She was also a kind and tender-hearted person who, in your time of need, would not hesitate to help you. She would literally give you the clothes off of her back. She treasured being a granny to her grandchildren and great-grandson, and was anxiously anticipating the privilege of personally meeting her newest granddaughter, Lily.
Through it all, Ann learned to trust in Jesus and she learned to trust in God. And now, she's at peace with God and reunited with all of those she loved and who had gone on before her. Ann is preceded in eternal rest by her beloved daughters , Promona and Valerie; granddaughter , Desiree LaShae Burney; loving parents , Lily Jean and Perkin Green; brothers, Amos Green and Jimmy Green; and her much loved nephew, Cecil Marcel Sanders.
