Betty J. Thomas, 74, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life on Monday, April 4, 2022 at AdventHealth Stuart F. Meyer Hospice Care Center, Palm Coast. The daughter of Walter White and Katie Bennamon, she was born on Wednesday, January 28, 1948 in Vidalia, GA. In 1965, she graduated from Campbell High School in Daytona Beach. On March 21, 1965, she married the love of her life, Henry Lewis Thomas Jr. During their 48 years of marriage, they birthed 7 beautiful children and later adopted a son. Betty was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Minister Betty received a degree in biblical studies from Jubilee Bible College, San Jose, CA. She served alongside her husband, Henry L. Thomas Jr., as Pastor in Rheinburg Germany, Associate Pastor @ Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Oak Hill, FL and Assistant Pastor of Outreach For Jesus Church in Hope Mills, NC. She was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church of Palm Coast, and served on several ministries: Transportation, Prison Ministry, Saints with a Testimony, Women's Ministry and Nursing Home Ministry. She really enjoyed being with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in eternal rest by her sister, Mary Louise Avery; granddaughter, Pamela Alexus Smith and grandson, Keondre Thomas.
She leaves to continue her legacy: sons, Henry (Jessica) Thomas, Ramstein-Miesenbach, Germany; Isaiah Thomas, Palm Coast; daughters, Betty (Melvin) Nunley, St. Louis, MO; Bregina (Angelena) Thomas, Clarksville, TN; Bonnita (Mike) Smith, Fayetteville, NC; Pamela (Kristen) Thomas, Palm Coast; Patricia (Jada) Fields, Phoebe (Kendrick) Norris, both of Fayetteville, NC; sister, Sarah Brockington, Daytona Beach; and 2 special sisters-in-law, Felice Hankins and Sylvia (Tommie) Devaux, both of New Smyrna Beach; 19 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.
Celebration of Minister Betty's Life will be 12 noon, Wednesday, April 13 @ Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 75 Pine Lakes Parkway S, Palm Coast with visitation one hour prior.
