Obituary

Betty Ann (Jones) Johnson, 65, retired homemaker of Jacksonville, entered the sunset of life on Monday, December 22, 2008 at her residence following an extended illness. A native of Palatka, she was the beloved daughter of Elder and Mrs. Johnnie J. (Izola Mathis) Jones Sr., born Thursday, June 3, 1943. She was educated in the Putnam County School District, Central Academy High School. In her early years, she was affiliated with Church of God In Christ in Palatka and Williston under the pastoral leadership of her father, Elder Johnnie J. Jones, Sr. She was formerly employed by the Putnam County School District in the dietary and custodial departments. Her favorite pastimes included fishing, cooking, gardening, playing Bingo, and spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her parents, Betty Ann is preceded in eternal rest by her sisters and brother, Clara Mae Scott, Catherine Cave, Mary Jones, Elnora Young, and Harrison Jones, Sr. To cherish her lifes memories: Husband, Fredrick Johnson, Palatka; Beloved Daughter (The Love of Her Life) Linda L. Douglas; Grandchildren, Kilalblo Wilson Sr. and Kendra (Anthony) Washington, Sr., Great grandchildren, Kilalblo Jr., KiVontay, and Kibrelle Wilson; Octavus, Anthony Jr., and Mattie Washington, all of Jacksonville; Step-Mother, Celia C. Jones, Orlando, FL., 8 brothers, Johnnie J.(Gracie) Jones, Jr., Queens, NY., Wilston S. (Susie) Jones, Palm Coast; Curtis Jones, Burlington Township, NJ., Tommy Jones, Jacksonville; Sylvester Leon (Debra) Jones, Trenton N.J., Herbert Brown, Ocala; Simon J.(Irene) Jones and Bishop Mark A.(Carol) Jones, both of Palatka; 5 sisters Carolyn Pittman, Jacksonville; Ella Mae Wedlock, Rahway, NJ., Sonia Sanders, and Susie Jones both of Orlando; Carol (Shervin) Roundtree, Williston; Father-in-law and Mother- in-law, Frank & Emma Durden, Palatka; A host of Sisters-in-law, Brothers-in-law; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and special friends. Celebration of Betty Anns life will be Tuesday, December 30th, 2 p.m., at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka. Her brother, Bishop Mark A. Jones, New Life Temple Fellowship, Inc., is the eulogist. Superintendent H. Wayne Colbert, Victorious Faith C.O.G.I.C., is presiding. The cortege will assemble at the Price-Martin Community Center, 220 N. 11th Street, Tuesday, 1:15p.m. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
