Betty Floyd Chandler, 79, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at HCA Florida North Florida Hospital, Gainesville, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on Sunday, January 26, 1947 to Lois Ophelia Heard. Betty was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka who was educated in the Putnam School District and earned her General Education Diploma at Harbor Light Christian Academy. Over the years, Betty was admired for her dedication and the strong work ethic she displayed during her years of employment. 

Betty was a member of the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Tommy J. Rodgers. She served as a deaconess, missionary, and an usher. In her spare time, Betty enjoyed completing word search puzzles and gathering with her family. She was well known and respected as a loving, caring person.

Her mother preceded her in eternal rest.

Precious members of Betty remain with her son and daughters, Delois (John) Manning, Elena (Frederick) Hendrieth, Edward (Patricia) Chandler, Devona (Terrance) Beauford; bonus daughter, Tammie Chandler; sister, Mary Ellen Heard; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; best friend, Patricia Mitchell and a host of other relatives and and devoted friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 24 at “Flagg’s Chapel of Serenity.” Celebration of Betty’s Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 25 at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 800 Madison Street, Palatka, Reverend Tommy J. Rodgers, Pastor & Eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
