Bettie Jean "Miss Chancellor" McCaskill, 75, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at her residence. A native of Fort McCoy, she was the daughter of Edward Lewis and Mary Lou Overstreet Lewis, born on Tuesday, October 17, 1944. She was educated in the Putnam County School District at Central Academy High School. Bettie was formerly employed as a short order cook for Bohannon's Restaurant and Don & Jamel's Pizza. Bettie also worked many years as a line feeder at Talley Box Company. She was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Her hobbies included: singing, dancing, sewing, painting and gardening. She was all about her flowers, flowers, flowers.
In addition to her parents, Bettie was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Earl "Pop" McCaskill; son, Anthony E. McCaskill; step-mother, Rosa Bell Lewis; special family members, Pamela Ward and Henry Thomas, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her memories: sons and daughters, Carl D. (Bridgette) Lewis, Bernard Lewis, Tammie (Elisha, Jr.) Miller, Daryl McCaskill, Tyrone McCaskill, Alvin McCaskill, Sr.; daughter-in-law, Della McCaskill; 15 grandchildren, Kindie, Asrial, Brittany, Christopher, Malisa, Katara, D'Wan, Elisha, III, Daryl Jr, LaDarrian, Shiayna, Jada, Sha'Starra, Me'Liyah, Alvin, Jr.; 14 great great-grandchildren; brothers, George (Cora) Lewis, Daytona Beach; Larry (Cathy) Walls, Ocala; sister, Juanita Lewis Oliphant, Palatka; brother-in-law, Johnny (Betty) McCaskill; sisters-in-law, Mattie Bell Battles, "Lady" Marion Florence; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 20 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, March 21 at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 322 North 10th Street, Palatka. Reverend Herbert L. Johnson, Jr., Senior Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
