Obituary

Barbara Ann Tucker, 72, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at AdventHealth, Palm Coast. She was the daughter of Harold George and Sarah Ann Linton Eccles, born on Saturday, May 29, 1948 in Parish of St. Catherine, Jamaica, West Indies. She was the ninth child of her parent's twelve children. Barbara grew up in an Adventist home. At the age of 12, she was baptized at the Williamsfield S.D.A. Church in Jamaica, West Indies. Barbara attended the Troja Primary School. She would later meet and fall in love with Wesper George McKenzie and they became the proud parents of two sons, Radcliffe and Hepburn (lovingly called "Chris") McKenzie.

In 1968, she migrated to the United States and accomplished several successful careers as an entrepreneur,  cosmetologist, real estate investor, and a nursing assistant. She was a go-getter who set goals, achieved them and lived her life to the fullest. Anyone who knew Barbara would agree that she had a very vibrant personality. She was affectionately called "Aunt Babs" and was a diva in her own right. She was a lover of beauty. "Aunt Babs" was a fashionista that was well known for her style which brightened our lives. She was also a proud, spirited, and feisty woman with a mind of her own.  (That's a quality that runs in the family). She was a direct, no nonsense type of person who wore her emotions on her sleeves. Aunt Babs was extremely opinionated. She was not one to sugar-coat anything. When she was asked a question she would give a direct and honest answer. She was a force to be reckoned with and a powerful defender of her family. Known for her integrity she became an advisor and teacher to many family and friends throughout the years.

She was a true fighter who fought many battles throughout her life. She was a strong woman with a strength of character that was inspiring. She won some battles and lost others, but though it all maintained her dignity and pride. Indeed, she was a warrior even unto death.

In 2011, Barbara relocated to Palm Coast to be closer to her family. Her health declined over the years and she required assistance from numerous doctors, nurses, and health care professionals.

She leaves to cherish her memories: sons, Radcliffe and Chris; daughters-in-law, Jean and Camille; grandchildren , Erika, Apollo, and Adonis; great-grandchildren , Eddie, Grace, Eliyah, Christopher, and Myana; four siblings , Joslyn (Joss), Audley, Merlin (Joyce) and Veda (Gem), and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her beloved church family.

A special thanks to all the doctors, health care providers, nurses, friends and relatives who tirelessly worked to assist "Aunt Babs."  We thank you for your love, support and prayers to help us through this difficult time. May God bless all of you.

"Aunt Babs," you will be greatly missed. Thank you for loving us and being an example, of facing it all, standing tall, and living a life that is full. I know when all is said and done you would say, "I did it my way."

In compliance with CDC COVID-19 guidelines, the Tucker family scheduled a limited, socially-distanced funeral service at 1 p.m. with visitation one hour prior, on Sunday, July 26 at Palm Coast Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 5650 Belle Terre Parkway, Palm Coast, FL.
