Obituary

Elder Barbara Louise Savage, 67, of Dade City, departed this earthly life on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at Advent Health, Dade City. The daughter of Elder Daniel Gilbert Savage, Jr. and Deaconess Idella (Sermon) Savage, she was born on September 8, 1957, in Palatka, FL. She was a 1975 graduate of Palatka Central High School, and continued her education at Miami Dade Community College with a study in Fashion Design.  She later attended Tampa Technical Institute where she received her Associate's degree as an Electronics Technician. She relocated to Freeport, Bahamas where she worked as a Technician for RCA/General Electric for 8 years. She also worked on the Ascension Island base in the South Atlantic for approximately 3 years.  Barbara later returned to the states to live out her years with family and friends.

Barbara, affectionately known by many for her warm spirit and infectious laughter, was a woman of deep faith and service. She initially attended Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where she was baptized at a young age. She was a devoted member of several congregations over the years including House of God, Keith Dominion, Spiritual Growth Ministries and most recently, Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church. She poured love, encouragement, and wisdom into those around her, touching lives not only in the church but throughout her community. She had a flair for fashion and was a gifted seamstress—sewing brought her joy, as did shopping and uplifting others with her sense of humor.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her sister-in-law, Cynthia Savage, brother-in-law, Jessie Daniels and numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.

She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter and son, Valtina Lewis, Antron Lewis, both of Dade City; grandchildren, Kareem Sconiers, DeMonte Lewis, Quinten Colbert, and Tiana Lewis; siblings, Elder Daniel (Mary) Savage, Arcadia, Korona (Spencer) Savage-Walker, Houston, TX; Doris Dee Daniels, Douglas, GA; special cousin/sister, Regina Carter, Jacksonville; loving aunt, Alice Mae Epps; beloved nieces, Shaniqua Aaron and Belinda Kelly; godchildren, Malik Holmes and Schmeica Ferdinand, and other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 4-6 p.m., Friday, May 16 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Barbara's Life will 1 p.m., Saturday, May 17 at Palatka House of God Church, Bishop G.L. Evans, Jr., Pastor. Her brother, Elder Daniel Savage, is the eulogist. Interment will be 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 19 at Fero Memorial Gardens, Beverly Hills.

Barbara's legacy of faith, laughter, and love will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her strength and spirit remain alive in the hearts of her family and friends.
