Barbara McTear Davis, 69, of St. Augustine, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Baptist Medical Center South, Jacksonville. The daughter of Willie and Daisy Mae McTear, she was born on Sunday, June 20, 1954 in St. Augustine. She was educated in the St. Johns County School District, and a 1972 graduate of Richard J. Murray High School (St. Augustine High School). In 1987, Barbara earned her Bachelor's degree from Bethune-Cookman College and subsequently earned her Master's degree at Nova Southeastern University. She attended Shiloh Church, Orange Park. Barbara was a member of Jenkins Pierson Chapter #111 OES since 2012. She was also a member of Alton Green Memorial American Legion Auxiliary Post 194, serving faithfully since 2018. She supported the mission of service not self. Barbara enjoyed traveling, shopping, scrapbooking, and spending time with family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her sister, Brenda Gatlin; brothers, Eugene Israel, Earl McTear; son-in-law, Joe Langston.
She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Robert Davis, Sr.; son, Robert Davis, Jr.; daughters, Tracy Langston, Sylvia Boykin; 6 grandchildren, William Peeples, III, Orlando; Ashwanti Covil, Jahzara Walden, Ashley Langston, Ariel Langston, all of St. Augustine; Ambher (Jufferson) Joseph, Jacksonville; brothers, Daniel Wise, Rochester, NY; Charlie Rowe, Clifford (Jerusha) Rowe, both of St. Augustine; sister, Elizabeth Martinez, Ft. Lauderdale; godsister, Andrelena (Noel) Campbell, St. Augustine; godchildren, Michael (Courtney) Israel, Calvin (Katrina) Davis, Vernessa Oxendine, all of St. Augustine; Tomas (Paula) Wright, Sr., Orlando; Myia McCloud, Hawthorne; Terrance Ford, Hastings; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation: 6-7 p.m., Friday, August 11, 2023; Celebration of Life: 1 p.m., Saturday, August 12, 2023 at New St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 135 N. Rodriquez Street, St. Augustine. Interment: 1 p.m., Monday, August 14, 2023 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Road
