Obituary

Barbara Burley, 53, of, Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at her residence. The daughter of Willie Burley and Mattie Evans Burley, she was born on Monday, August 17, 1964 in Miami, FL. She was educated in the Miami-Dade County School District and was a 1982 graduate of Miami Edison Senior High School. She attended Palatka High during the 1977-78 school years and was active in the JROTC program. She was a former resident of Lenexa, KS and Marshall, MO. Barbara earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication, Missouri Valley College; Master's Degree in Social Work, University of Missouri. She was a member of Powerhouse Ministries in Marshall for over 20 years, and served as youth ministry leader and choir member. Barbara was a social worker who enjoyed opening her home and providing for less fortunate children who lacked parental or family support. She changed the lives of over 100 children through her generous acts of lovingkindness.

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in eternal rest by her godmother, Shirley Stephenson.

She leaves to cherish her memories: daughters, Antonia M. Turner, Kissimmee; Isi Nikki (Marvin) Coburn, Memphis, TN; Beverly "Bee Jay" (Jermaine) Spain, Larhonda Jones, Christina Harris, Wernester "Shay Shay" Barney, Felicia Sell Hernandez, all of Marshall, MO; 13 grandchildren; brothers, Benjamin Burley, Sr., Palatka; Elder Reggie (Phyllis) Palmer, Sr., Kissimmee; Elder Darren (Terry) Facen, Rolla, MO; sisters, Gail Evans, Miami, Betty Evans, Palatka; aunts & uncle, Ada Valentine, Jackson, MS; Crenada Hilton, Lillie Ann Pertty, both of Miami; Willie (Ruby) Taylor, Palm Coast; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, August 25 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Barbara's Life will be 11 a.m., Saturday, August 26, at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 North 19th Street, Palatka. Interment will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery.
