Aubury Burns,
Jr.
June 15, 1953 – September 20, 2019
Aubury "Honeydew" Burns, Jr., 66, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, September 20, 2019 at his residence. The son of Aubury Burns, Sr. and Elizabeth Victoria (Davis) Burns, he was a native of Sylacauga (Talladega County), AL., born on Monday, June 15, 1953. During his early childhood, his family moved to Quincy, FL and he was educated in the Gadsden County School District at Stevens Elementary School and Carter-Parramore High School. In 1975, he moved to Kissimmee, and subsequently resided in Orlando. Aubury was a long distance truck driver. In 1978, he was united in marriage to the former Barbara Lucile Smith. Aubury was baptized and became a member of the Ministry of Reconciliation under Pastor Slade Hollinger. Aubury had a sense of humor, loved fishing and especially enjoyed fellowshipping with the brothers. In addition to his parents, Aubury was preceded in eternal rest by his siblings, David Lee Burns, John Will Burns, Ella Ruth Burns and Annie Mae Burns Keaton.
He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted wife of over 40 years, Barbara L. Burns, Palatka; daughter, Cathy James, Alachua; sons, Victor (Victoria), Raulin (Giovanni) Brown; both of Atlanta, GA; step-children, Sheila Brown and Reverend Philip Brown, both of St. Augustine; 10 grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Hilda) Burns, Panama City; sisters, Shirley (Stacy) Walker, Rosa (Carlos) Thomas, both of Quincy; sisters in-law, Moell Burns, Alachua; Ora Bell Burns, Raeford, NC; Aretha Lewis, Martha Smith, Claretha Smith, all of St. Augustine; brother-in-law , Joseph Smith, Jacksonville; cousin, Annie (Jimmie) Garrett, Pensacola; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Aubury's Life will be 10 a.m., Saturday, September 28 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Reverend Gregory E. Pelham, Sr., pastor of Greater New Hope Missionary Baptist Church , Alachua, FL .
