Arthur David Sheffield, Sr., 81, of Orange Park, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the Life Care Center of Orange Park. The son of David Sheffield and Etta Bell Brown, he was born on Saturday, February 5, 1938 in Satsuma, FL. He was educated in the Putnam County School District at Central Academy. He was of the Baptist faith. At an early age, Arthur moved to Long Island, NY. For 51 years, he was united in marriage to the former Ruby Hudson and they became proud parents of 5 sons.
While residing in New York, he was employed as a heavy equipment operator. His hobbies included fishing, walking, and playing video games.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in eternal rest by his brothers, John Bell and Ronald Sheffield.
He leaves to cherish his memories: Five sons , Charles Hudson, Larry, Andrew, Richard, and Rondel Sheffield; 2 daughters , Patsy Lherison and Vernel Sheffield; devoted sister, Shirley Sheffield, Middleburg; 34 grandchildren, brothers-in-law, James Henderson, Oklahoma; Alfred Bonds and Arthur Henderson, both of Long Island, NY; sisters-in-law, Ariska and Romona, of Long Island, NY; daughters-in-law, Wanda, AL; Teresa, Orange Park; Kim, Orange Park; Monica, Wyandanch, NY; Taryn, NC; Mable, Central Islip, NY; Paulette, Atlanta, GA; special grandson, Rondel Sheffield, Jr., aunt, Geraldine Longmire, Middleburg, devoted friends, Carey Green; John; and Ike Session, and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other caring relatives and friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m., Saturday, September 21, at Karl N. Flagg Serenity Memorial Chapel, Palatka, with Rev. Ernest F. Sheffield, Daytona Beach, FL., officiating.
