Arthur Frederick Edwards, 81, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at Orange Park Medical Center following an extended illness. He was a native of Manhattan, New York, born June 20, 1928 in Bellevue Hospital. He was the son of William and Mary (Daly) Edwards.

Arthur served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and subsequently served in the U. S. Armys Airborne Division KCO 3rd Battalion. During his tour, SGT (T)5 Edwards had been stationed in the Philippines and served aboard the USS Mount McKinney in Germany. He earned numerous decorations including the American Area Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, and the World War II Victory medals. He was certified in electrical wiring and as a Mechanic. Following his honorable discharge from military duties, he launched a career with the United States Postal Service, where he was employed as a mail handler for numerous years until retirement. Upon retirement, he resided in Yonkers, NY, before moving to Palatka nearly 5 years ago.

In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in eternal rest by his brothers, Curtis Edwards, William L. Edwards, and Charles D. Phillips. To Cherish his memories, loving daughters, Dorethia Elizabeth (Dennis) Guy, Brooklyn, NY; Lynn Rose Everett (Mark Delancy) and Gail Louise (John) Daniels, both of Palatka; devoted sister, Carmen Garrigia, Bronx, NY; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. In honor of Mr. Edwards wishes, the family will conduct a private family memorial ceremony.
