Deacon Arthur Lee Coley, Sr., 75, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at his residence. A native of Hastings, he was the son of Arthur Lee Coley and Corene "Johnnie Mae" (Deacon Clinton) Esau, born on Sunday, May 9, 1943. He was educated in the St. Johns County School District. He was united in marriage to Lois Carroll on Friday, July 24, 1992.
During his early years he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and became a member of Zion Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent William Rutledge, Sr. In 2013, Arthur became a faithful member of Pentecostal Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Johnnie Shaw and was ordained as a Deacon on Monday, June 6, 2016. He also joyfully served in the music ministry as a talented lead guitarist.
He was a dedicated finishing department employee of Florida Furniture Industries for over 40 years (until the company halted production.) He was subsequently employed by Smith Cabinets for 5 years until his declining health prevailed in 2017. Arthur was very creative with his hands and was an avid fisherman with a favorite fishing spot at Rodman Dam. A passionate NFL football fan, the Miami Dolphins was his favorite team until the launch of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was preceded in eternal rest by his parents.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of 25 years, Lois Carroll Coley, Palatka; sons , Elder Arthur Lee (Tiffany) Coley, Jr., Tony Coley, both of Palatka, Jerome Coley, Wilmington, NC; daughters , Jeanetta Meredith Coley, Victoria Deneen Coley (Herman, Sr.) McRae, Palatka; step-daughters , Chanel Williams, Pittsburgh, PA, Connie Williams, Baltimore, MD; sister , Missionary Ruby Lee Andrews, Gainesville; brother in law , Lester (Monique) Carroll, Pittsburgh, PA; sister in law , Leslie Carroll, Los Angeles, CA; 8 grandchildren , Marcus Johnson, Shalonda Johnson, Colvin Johnson, Herman "J.R." McRae, Antonio McRae, Arteshia Coley, Tiffani Coley, and Aldoph Brown, III ; a host of great grandchildren; nephew, Elder David (Michelle) Richardson, I, Gainesville; a host of other relatives and friends, especially devoted friends , Herman Robinson, Willie (Mildred) Brockington, Richard Carr, and James Fleming; Pentecostal Church of God in Christ Church Family; other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, June 8, at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, June 9, at Pentecostal Church of God in Christ, 624 N. 9 th St., Palatka, Superintendent Johnnie Shaw, pastor, is the eulogist. Deacon Coley's family will honor his wishes to be memorialized at Rodman Dam.Visitation
