Arnilee Peeples, 91, of Elkton, entered the sunset of life surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Community Hospice Bailey Center for Caring, St. Augustine. The daughter of Henry and Daisy Mae (Session) Williams, Tuck and Alice (Session) Jones, she was born on Monday, February 17, 1930 in St. Augustine, FL. She was educated in the St. Johns County School District and was a 1949 graduate of Excelsior High School, St. Augustine. Arnilee was a longtime, loyal employee of the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind for 26 years until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of Gethsemane Missionary Baptist church, Hastings. Arnilee enjoyed reading the newspaper, watching old western movies & wheel of fortune, and solving word search puzzles. She was an avid Jacksonville Jaguars and Florida Gators football fan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Larry Peeples, Sr.; son, Kenneth Peeples; daughter, Adrienne Peeples; granddaughter, Shantria; brothers, Buster, George, Felix, and Robert Williams; sisters, Inell Wimberly and Gussie Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memories: sons and daughters, Larry (Virginia) Peeples, Jr., Knoxville, TN; Willie Willis-Steward, Linda Wesley, both of Elkton; Dereal (Trecie) Jones, St. Marys, GA; Rhonda Peeples, Elkton; Leighton (LaShauna) Peeples, St. Augustine; 12 grandchildren, Michael, Travis, Sebron, Sherese, Tymorra, LeQuitia, Mose, IV, Shasta, Dontae, Dominicia, Brianna, Savion; numerous great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; "like a daughter" Audrey Williams, Hastings; "like a son" Kevin "Sleepy" Robinson, St. Augustine; brother-in-law, James S. Jackson, St. Augustine; sisters-in-law, Martha Washington, Rahway, NJ; Louise Spencer, Roanoke, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 4-6 p.m., Friday December 17 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 317 Daniels Street, Hastings. Homegoing Celebration will be 3 p.m., Saturday, December 18 at The Lord's Temple City of Refuge, 140 Gilmore Street, Hastings, Bishop Thomas Cave, III, Host Pastor. Co-Pastor Karon Torrence, Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, is the eulogist. Interment will be 11 a.m., Monday, December 20 in St. Augustine Memorial Park.
