Obituary

Anthony Earl "Amp" McCaskill, 50, of Interlachen, entered the sunset of life on Friday, January 29, 2016 at Putnam Community Medical Center, Palatka. The son of Earl "Pop" and Betty Jean Lewis McCaskill, he was a native of Palatka, born on Thursday, April 29, 1965. He was a 1983 graduate of Palatka High School and afterward attended St. Johns River Community College. On April 20, 2002, he married the former Della Ressia Davis and they resided in Interlachen for the past 13 years. Anthony served as a Deacon and Assistant Sunday School Teacher at Power House Faith & Praise Church of God, Gainesville, under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Jannie D. Armstrong. "Amp" was an all-around sports fanatic, especially basketball. He was an avid Florida Gator fan. Anthony was employed with Elite Cleaning Services, Starke and formerly employed with Waste Management, Putnam County Public Works, Hydro Aluminum, Winn Dixie and Gustafson Farms.

In addition to his father, Anthony was preceded in eternal rest by paternal grandparents, Johnnie (Odell) McCaskill; maternal Grandparents, Edward (Rosabell) Lewis; father-in-law , Bishop Venerable Armstrong, Sr., brother-in-law , Venerable Armstrong, Jr., sister-in-law , Nuitrelle Armstrong-Brown.

McCaskill, Interlachen; children , D'Wan Johnson, Tampa; Malisa Nelson, St. Augustine; Kutara Wilford, Atlanta, GA; mother, Betty Jean McCaskill, Palatka; siblings, Tammie (Elisha II) Miller and Tyrone (Michelle) McCaskill, Jacksonville; Carl (Bridgette) Lewis, Bernard Lewis, Daryl McCaskill, and Alvin McCaskill, all of Palatka; aunts and uncles, Juanita Lewis Oliphant, Palatka; George (Cora) Lewis, Daytona Beach; Larry ( Cathy) Walls , Leroy Walls, James Walls, all of Ocala; mother-in-law , Pastor Jannie D. Armstrong, Grandin; s isters-in-law , Valarie Armstrong, Wildwood; Nikki Armstrong, St. Augustine; Thressa Lewis, Fleming Island; LaShonda Yvette Fort-Armstrong, Interlachen; brothers-in-law, Ira (Heather) Armstrong, Ocala; Elias Armstrong, Grandin; Frederick Brown, Palatka; and a host of other relatives and caring friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m., Friday, February 5, "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity, 2400 Madison Street, Palatka. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m., Saturday, February 6, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, Pastor. Bishop Isaiah Johnson, Sr., Ocala District Overseer, Church of God, is the eulogist.
