Obituary

Annie Mae Davis Simmons, 71, of Orlando, entered the sunset of life on Friday, July 22, 2016 at her daughter's residence. The daughter of Aaron Davis, Sr., and Nellie Lee O'Neal Davis, she was born on Thursday, February 22, 1945 in Grandin, FL. She was a 1963 graduate of Central Academy High School, Palatka. She was baptized at an early age at Abilene Missionary Baptist Church, Putnam Hall, under the leadership of Reverend Robert S. Walker. She retired as a Broward County School District bus driver and subsequently continued her career in transportation as an independent driver for U.S. Coach. Responding to her heartfelt calling, "Mother Annie," as she was lovingly called, became a companion for elderly citizens employed initially by "Share the Care" and later "Homeinstead." She later served as a church mother at Love Covenant Word Church. In 2008, she joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church and served faithfully in the Senior Choir. She really loved the Lord and was a faithful participant of bible study and member of the women's Sunday school class. She was a volunteer at the Mills Development Center and served over 14 years on the Board of Directors for Total Restoration Transformation Center, volunteering as a cook and food coordinator. Annie touched many with her warm smile and gentle spirit. She had a special place in her heart for the elderly and spent many hours volunteering as a companion and caregiver. A gifted seamstress, she enjoyed shopping, spending time with her grandchildren and watching Jeopardy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her siblings, Rev. Leroy Davis, Alice Wade, Lee Henry Davis and Harry Davis.
