Annie Ruth Grooms Miller, 70, a native and lifelong resident of Palatka, transitioned from her earthly labors into eternal rest on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Select Specialty Hospital, Gainesville. The daughter of Reverend Divellie and Mrs. Lillie Mae (Walker) Grooms, she was born on Sunday, October 27, 1946. "Annie Ruth" was educated in the Putnam County School District and was a 1964 graduate of Central Academy High School. At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and was a lifelong member. Over the years, she participated in choir ministries and served as president of the Matron's Society until declining health prevailed. She was gainfully employed as a Relief Inspector and Union Representative at Central States Diversified, retiring after 30+ years of meritorious service. Annie enjoyed sharing her love with others and is already dearly missed but will never be forgotten. In addition to her parents, Annie was preceded in eternal rest by her sister, Gloria Herring Bessent.
She leaves to cherish her legacy and loving memories: sons and daughter, Gregory L. Session (Ollie McCloud), Sharon Session (John L.) Williams, The Honorable Terrill Hill (Mayor of Palatka); all of Palatka; devoted nephew, Henry Herring III; like a son, Larry L. Session, Sr.; sisters, Dorothy "Faye" Grooms Thomas, Orlando; Deborah Grooms, St. Augustine; brother-in-law, Rowland Bessent, Palatka; grandchildren, Gre'Shay and Dyneisius Session, Jonell, John and Javon Williams; god-brother, Willie Jones; devoted cousin, Alesia Hall; devoted friend and neighbor, Harold (Liz) Nealy; and a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, colleagues, caregivers, and friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 12 at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 1000 N. 19th Street, Palatka, Reverend Anthony Q. Robinson, Sr., Pastor. Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka, Reverend Karl N. Flagg, Host pastor. Reverend Anthony Q. Robinson, Sr., pastor of Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, is the eulogist. Reverend Rodney T. Francis, Sr., former Pastor of Washington Tabernacle Baptist Church, St. Louis, MO, presiding. Interment will be in Oak Hill East Cemetery.
