Deaconess Annie Beatrice Wiggs Hutcherson, 92, of Palatka, was born Saturday, December 8, 1917 to Henry and Manilla (Freeman) Wiggs in Philadelphia, PA., and she entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at Putnam Community Medical Center.
At an early age, her family relocated to Florida and she was educated in the Putnam County School District. On July 1, 1937, she was united in holy matrimony to Thomas Hutcherson Sr. and they shared over 68 years in marriage until he was called to eternal rest on February 19, 2006. She was a former member of Mt. Zion Primitive Baptist Church where she formerly served in numerous ministries such as Teacher and Superintendent in the Sunday School; Deaconess, Usher and Senior Choir member. On February 19, 1993, she united with Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church and served faithfully in multiple ministries including the Deaconess, Senior Ministry, Senior Choir Ministry, and Womens Sunday School Class. She was also active in the Palatka Community Choir, the Community Prayer Band and was a loyal representative for the Meals on Wheels program. She was employed for many years at the Talley Box Company and subsequently retired from Florida Furniture. Mother Hutcherson loved her family dearly and she loved people in general. She lived her life based upon the principle that, True Christian worship includes the love of God and the love of neighbor.
Those who preceded her in eternal rest in addition to her parents and beloved Husband; Sisters, Willie Mae Wiggs, Thelma L. Pinder; Brothers, Buster Wiggs, David Wiggs, Alphonso Wiggs, and Sylvester Wiggs; godsons, Jason Howell and Sammie Ray McCoy.
Those she leaves to cherish the precious memories of a devoted mother: her loving and devoted sons and daughter: Deacon Thomas (Lucretia) Hutcherson Jr., Goose Creek, SC; William Hutcherson, Palatka; Brenda J. Hutcherson (Fianc, Harold Bryant Jr.), Palm Coast; Brothers, Alfred (Susan) Wiggs, Las Vegas NV; Ulysses L. (Marta) Wiggs, Santa Ana, CA; Sister, Queen Esther Coleman, Southern Pines, NC; 4 Grandchildren, David Hutcherson, Virginia Beach, VA; Derek Hutcherson, Hinesville, GA; Trina (Benjamin) Askew, Virginia Beach, VA; Tracy (James) Blandin, Goose Creek, SC; 6 Great Grandchildren; Jasmine Hutcherson, Donald Hutcherson Jr. Taija Askew, Tamia Hutcherson, Jamari Blandin, and Jayla Blandin, Great-Great Granddaughter, Nylah Hutcherson; Sisters-in-law, Lucy Hutcherson, Palatka; Margaret Wiggs, St. Albans, NY; Inez Wiggs, Los Angeles, CA; Martha Wiggs, New York City; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, caring friends and several Christian Daughters.
The visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday (Today) at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church. Homegoing Celebration will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 21 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka. Her pastor, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, is the Eulogist and her niece, Minister Shelia McCoy, Gods Manna Ministries, is presiding.
Interment will be in the Palatka Memorial Gardens, 4070 Silver Lake Drive, Palatka. The cortege will assemble at the Hutchersons residence at 10:20 a.m. Saturday.
