Angela Yvette "Angie" "Mamie" Baker Whitty, 52, of St. Augustine, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Haven Hospice Custead Care Center, Orange Park. She was one of ten children born to James Willie and Hester Lee Baker. She was a native of St. Augustine, born on Wednesday, March 17, 1965. Angela was a 1984 graduate of St. Augustine High School and was active in the JROTC program. Upon graduation, she attended the St. Augustine Vocational Technical Center and became a certified nursing assistant. Angela was a faithful and devoted member of St. Luke Alpha and Omega Pentecostal Church where she served as secretary, church clerk, Sunday school teacher, choir member and was also a prayer partner with her sister, Mary. Angela was an awesome cook and her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will definitely miss her famous brownies. Angela's transition has left a void in the hearts of our entire family and she will be greatly missed.
In addition to her mother, Angela was preceded in eternal rest by her brothers, Willie James Baker, Jr. and Horace Phillip Baker; daughter, Hester Lee Baker.
She leaves to cherish her memories: loving and devoted son, Kenneth Jerome (Jennifer) Thomas, Jr.; father, Overseer James Willie Baker; sisters, Pastor Linda Gail Baker, Mary Ann Lewis, LaVerne Baker, all of St. Augustine; Jessie Elaine Baker, Oviedo; brothers, Apostle Julius Leon (Diana) Baker, Palm Coast; Charles Maurice (Annette) Baker, Sanford; Oliver Sammy (Babe) Baker, Miami; Cecil James (Mary) Harris, St. Augustine; grandson, Vincent Pineda; goddaughter, Janiya Baker, both of St. Augustine; special nurses, Caliayh Smith, Jaylen Tembo; personal chef, Garnett Alexander, all of St. Augustine; maternal aunt, Mildred Smith, Broxton, GA; paternal aunt, Evelyn Bennett, Rochester, NY; maternal uncle, Matthew Towns, Miami; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
