IN LOVING MEMORY OF

March 29, 1925 – April 26, 2009
Andrew Andy A.J. James Hamilton Jr., 84, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, Palm Coast. Andy was born Sunday, March 29, 1925 to the late Andrew Sr. and Bertha Hamilton in Fort Meade, FL. He was educated in the Polk County School District and attended Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. He left FAMU early to serve his country in the 9206th Technical Service Unit at Camp Stoneman California. He earned the American Campaign, Good Conduct, & World War II Victory Medals. On July 29, 1946, he was honorably discharged at Camp Beale California. In 1990, he retired from Duron Paint Company, Beltsville, Maryland, following 30 years of employment as an electrician. Andy and his soul mate Toy resided in Palm Coast for the past 5 years, moving from Silver Spring, MD. Andrews family and friends affectionately called him Andy or A.J. He really loved all sports but football was his favorite. The Washington Redskins was his favorite pro team. He often told stories about playing football under the legendary Jake Gaither. If a football game was being played from Little League to the NFL, Andy was either there or watching it on television. His joy was talking to his great-grandson, Tyler, and his grandson-in-law, Ranard, about sports. Andy was a big-hearted person. He didnt hesitate to help when needed or to give words of encouragement and sound advice. His love of God was reflected in his character as he traveled his lifes journey. He was introduced to the works and teachings of God at an early age at the St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Fort Meade, Florida. Andys house was always the place to be for good food, jazz music, dancing and having fun. He loved to entertain and made sure everyone was having a good time. Everyone called Andys house Home. He leaves to cherish his memories: loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Esther Gilbert Hamilton, Palm Coast; dutiful son, Calvin B. Hamilton, Beltsville, MD., 2 grandchildren, Monique(Ranard) Stephens, Clinton, MD; and Brian Sanders-Hamilton, Beltsville, MD; 2 great-grandchildren Tyler and Chaise Stephens, Clinton, MD; brother, Leroy (Delores) Hamilton, Palm Coast; sister, Clarissa Hamilton Yarbrough, Washington, D.C., and a host of other relatives and friends.
