Obituary

Alzie Davis Bostic was born in Oconee, Georgia on Thursday, September 4, 1930 to Evelyn (Wiggins) Davis and Sammie Davis, Sr. She was the third of nine children. The Davis family moved to Central Florida in Alzie's early childhood. On Tuesday, May 23, 2023 she made her transition to a place of peace at Bridgeview Center, Ormond Beach.

She was raised in Mount Dora, Florida and attended public schools there while enjoying a close bond to her siblings, extended family, and neighbors. After graduation, Alzie attended her beloved alma mater, Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida. It is here that she first met Isaac H. Bostic of East Palatka, Florida. Subsequently, they married and moved to East Palatka to start their lives together. This union produced one child, Isaac Hesley Bostic, Jr. After graduating from FAMU, both Isaac, Sr. and Alzie taught in the Putnam County School system for over 40 years. While teaching, Alzie returned to FAMU during summer breaks and obtained her Masters of Education degree. After retiring, Isaac & Alzie moved to Palm Coast to spend their golden years together.

While teaching was her primary profession, Alzie filled her time with a variety of other pursuits. She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior at an early age and was very active within the AME Church, with memberships at Payne Chapel and Bethel AME locally. She was also an active and passionate member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated (Zeta Mu Zeta Chapter) and was recognized for 50 years of membership in May of 2023. Alzie also campaigned for civil rights, various political and charitable causes, and was very active in the Florida Teachers Union.

Within her family, she will be remembered for her love of FAMU's football team and marching band. She would attend multiple games during their season. Alzie also loved baking, travel, genealogy, and basketball. She will equally be remembered for her quick wit, sense of humor, and love of family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her husband, Isaac H. Bostic Sr.; son, Isaac H. Bostic, Jr; six siblings, Beatrice, Lee Alice, Sammie Jr., Albert, Bertha, and Barbara.

Alzie leaves to cherish her memories: two grandsons, Jerod D. Bostic. Houston, TX; Isaac H. Bostic III, Tampa; sisters, Kizzie Barksdale, Palm Coast; Evelyn Andrews, Mt. Dora; nephews, Christopher Bostic, Cory Daniels, East Palatka; and a host of other relatives, colleagues, and caring friends.
