IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alvin Bruce
Brown
September 25, 1956 – August 1, 2021
Brother Alvin Bruce Brown, affectionately called "BIG AL," was born on September 25, 1956 in Palatka, Florida. He was the son of the son of Ernestine Sermons Williams, Bruce Brown and Homer L. Williams. He was educated in the Putnam County FL School District before the family relocated to New York. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School, Bronx NY. At a very early age, the love of Christ was instilled into his soul, originating at Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ (East Palatka, FL) under the spiritual guidance of his beloved maternal grandfather, Elder Horace M. Sermons.
His love for Christ bloomed as he served others to glorify God. Over the years, "BIG AL" served in the local church in numerous ministries, including Sunday School Teacher at Mount Olive Universal Holiness Church, under the leadership of Bishop John H. Sermons. He was presently serving as Deacon-elect of Emmanuel Love Fellowship, Jacksonville, under the leadership of Pastor Kathy Parker.
Big AL was employed with Amalgamated Housing Corporation of Bronx, NY for over 40 years as a Service Manager in the condominium maintenance division.
Big AL was truly "A Father of Nations" and he loved everyone he encountered. His heart was very big and he actually never met a stranger. "Big AL" had an unconditional love for his family. He also enjoyed building, fishing, cooking, traveling, and giving.
In addition to his parents, "Big AL" was preceded in eternal rest by his maternal grandparents, Elder Horace (Cora) Sermons; paternal grandparents;
