Obituary

Alphonso Whipple, Sr., 54, of Crescent City entered the sunset of life on Monday, December 14, 2020 at AdventHealth Hospice Stuart F. Meyer Center, Palm Coast, surrounded by his loving family. A native of Crescent City, he was the son of Arthur Lee and Jerelene (Walker) Whipple, Sr., born on Monday, February 14, 1966. Alphonso was educated in the Putnam County School District in Crescent City. He pursued a career in Construction and worked for over 20 years.

During his early childhood years, Alphonso joined Jethro First Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James C. Golden, Jr. He had the biggest heart and most humble spirit. He loved his family, especially his mother and children. Alphonso always extended a helping hand with a big smile. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Whenever someone needed something fixed you could always count on him to demonstrate his love and generosity. He will be forever remembered for the gifts and treasured memories he left.

Alphonso was preceded in eternal rest by his father , Arthur L. Whipple, Sr.; maternal grandparents , Albert and Roberta Walker; uncle , Alton Walker, Sr.; aunt , Gloria W. Johnson; brother , SSG Stayce Lamar Whipple, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memories: devoted mother, Jerelene Walker Whipple, Crescent City; 3 children , Alphonso Whipple, Jr., Dallas, TX, Jessica Williams, St. Augustine; Maya (Frank) Powers, Daytona Beach; 4 grandchildren; brothers , Alonzo (Sheila) Walker, Arthur Whipple, Jr., both of Crescent City; Raymond Whipple, Ocala, Wayne (Natona) Whipple, Palatka; Christopher (Tangayika) Daniels, Jacksonville; sisters , Mae A. Whipple, Crescent City; Vivian W. Thomas, Palm Coast; Dona Daniels, Tonya (Jerome) Andrews, both of Jacksonville; aunts, Minnie Shelton, Fitzgerald, GA; Maxine Mills, Rochester, NY; special extended relatives, The Shelton Family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless other caring relatives and friends.

Visitation of family and friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, December 18 at Jethro First Baptist Church, 101 Cedar Street, Crescent City. Homegoing Celebration graveside will be held 10 a.m.., Saturday, December 19 at Eden Cemetery, 921 Oakwood Street, Crescent City. Rev. Adrian Washington, Pastor, Jethro First Baptist Church, Crescent City is the eulogist.
