Alphonso Lee "Bubba" Brooks, Sr., 78, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Monday, April 14, 2025 at HCA Florida Putnam Hospital. Alphonso was born on Saturday, April 12, 1947, in West Tocoi, Florida, to Alonzo and Ollie Mae (Murphy) Brooks. He received his formal education in the Clay County School District.  After living in Green Cove Springs for a number of years, Alphonso made his home in Palatka.

On January 31, 1971, Alphonso and Josephine Bellamy united in holy matrimony. Two sons were born to this union.

After approximately 25 years of employment at Florida Furniture, Alphonso retired as a machine operator. His favorite forms of recreation included fishing (every chance he got) and watching football.

For many years, Alphonso was a member of New Life Temple Fellowship under the leadership of Bishop Mark A. Jones and Co-Pastor Carol Jones.

In addition to his parents, Alphonso was preceded in eternal rest by his brothers, Willie James Brooks, Alvin Brooks, Raymond Brooks; sister, Lucille Peterson.

Precious memories of Alphonso "Bubba" remain with: his wife of 54 years, Josephine; two sons, Alphonso, Jr. (LaKeisha) Brooks, Travis (Markeila) Brooks; four grandchildren, Tierra, Rylan, Josiah and Aria; two brothers, Tommy Lee Brooks and Clarence Brooks; seven sisters, Annie Mae Bellamy, Ollie Brooks, Nadeine Brooks, Ethel Williams, Lilly Pedraza, Linda Brooks, Soprena Brooks; favorite sister-in-law, Annie Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation of family & friends will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, April 18 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity." Celebration of Alphonso's Life will be 1 p.m., Saturday, April 19 at Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, 4909 St. Johns Avenue, Palatka. Bishop Mark A. Jones, New Life Temple Fellowship, is the eulogist. Interment will follow in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
