Alphonso "Funk" Bland, 65, of Seville, entered the sunset of life on Monday, June 5, 2023 at Advent Health, Deland. The son of Fred Bland, Sr. and Dennie Lee Robertson Wright, he was born on Saturday, September 28, 1957 in Seville. He attended Taylor Jr./Sr. High School, Pierson. Spending time with family/friends and fishing is what Alphonso enjoyed doing most in his spare time. For many years, Alphonso worked in landscaping and in the fernery business in Volusia County.

In addition to his parents, Alphonso was preceded in eternal rest by his brothers, Herman Maefield, Sr., Fred Bland, Jr.; sisters, Joyce Jackson, Theresha Bland, Vivian Murphy, Yvonne Bland and Cynthia Gadson.

Cherished memories of Alphonso remain with his: daughter, Ashley (J.D.) Weaver, Orlando; brother, Gamard Wright, Crescent City; like a brother, Joe Bacon, Seville; sisters, Lawanda Graham, Detroit, MI; Denise Bland, Crescent City; Cedell Butler, Palatka; 4 grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. with a Celebration of Life commencing at 11:30 a.m., Friday, June 16 at "Flagg's Chapel of Serenity."
