Obituary

Rev. Allan C. Pennill, Sr., son of the late Risden and Jessie Pennill, was born in Punta Gorda, Belize (Central America) on Saturday, September 4, 1937. He was the third of eight children. Allan received his early education in Belize City and later became a member of the Belize Defense Forces where he served for two years. He attended the Police Academy Training School which prepared him to serve as a police officer for three years. He was called into ministry to preach soon thereafter. He forfeited a job with lots of security and entered the Filaina Memorial Bible College in Benque Viego. Allan graduated in May 1961 with a diploma in Christian Education. Subsequently, he was sent to preach and teach in the Church of the Nazarene in Mount Hope and the Crooked Tree Church of the Nazarene.

The Pennill family migrated to the United States in March 1964 and Allan became a student at Pasadena Nazarene College. His intentions were to become a medical missionary. However, due to financial obligations, he had to change his course and find employment. He started working at Ford Motor Company. While employed, he continued to preach in the Church of the Nazarene and served as Youth Pastor at Bethel Church of the Nazarene in Pasadena, California. His early ministry work also included serving as a church planter in Vallego, California, Pastor in Oakland, California and Associate Pastor in Berkeley, California.

In 1983, Allan was laid off from Ford Motor Company and returned to Belize.  A brief time as an educator began when he started to teach in the Nazarene High School and later became the school's principal. After being awarded a scholarship to attend Farris State College in Big Rapids, Michigan, Allan returned to the states in the summer of 1985. During the winter of that year, Allan was called back to work by Ford Motor Company and accepted employment in Norfolk, Virginia.

On April 14, 1990, Allan married the beautiful Delores Ray Matthew. Together they started a new chapter in life. They lived in Virginia Beach, Virginia and both were employed by Ford Motor Company. While working at Ford Motor Company, he was promoted to superintendent in the Parts Handling Department. They became active members of the New Light Baptist Church.  He credits the Lord for keeping him strong during challenging times as a supervisor.

On May 31, 1996, Allan retired from Ford Motor Company and relocated to Palm Coast, Florida. He planned to lay back and enjoy retirement not knowing that the Lord had something bigger and better waiting for him. In May of 1997, Allan was called to pastor the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Saint Augustine, Florida, where he served faithfully for 17 years. After retiring from his pastoral assignment, the Pennill's became active members of the Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Palm Coast. Rev. Pennill continued his leadership and service by serving as an Associate Minister, participating in the Prison Ministry, Men's Ministry, Men's Sunday School Class, Calvary Cupboard and the Monday Morning with the Master Prayer Team. His commitment to ministry extended into the community through his role as a Chaplain with Flagler Hospital.

Over the years, Rev. Pennill acknowledged there were many wonderful people who came into his life. However, most significantly, Allan C. Pennill, Sr., often thanked God for a wonderful wife who stood by him and served with him every step of the way.

In addition to his parents, Pennill was preceded in eternal rest by his daughter, Marie Luz; four of his siblings: Milton, Franklin, Leanox and Cristobel.

Rev. Allan C. Pennill entered the sunset of life on Friday, August 30, 2024, at AdventHealth in Palm Coast, Florida.
