Obituary

Alisa "Lisa" Green Taylor, 54, former Palatka resident, entered the sunset of life on Friday, March 2, 2012, at Northeast Methodist Hospital, San Antonio, TX, following an extended illness. A native of Jacksonville, "Lisa" was born on Friday, August 16, 1957. She accepted Christ at an early age at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a 1975 graduate of Palatka Central High School, where she played the trombone in the "Mighty Marching Bulldogs" band. In 1979, Alisa earned a B.S. Degree in Psychology from Bethune-Cookman University, Daytona Beach and was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Alisa was united in holy matrimony to Victor L. Taylor on September 22, 1979 and they were proud parents of two beautiful daughters, Victoria and Vakesha. Subsequently, Lisa and her family moved to Fort Pierce and later relocated to Orange Park, Florida. The Taylors became members of the First Baptist Church of Mandarin. Alisa was employed as a Social Worker at the Sickle Cell Foundation until her health declined. Lisa's hobbies included reading, dancing, cooking, watching football and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, Alisa was preceded in eternal rest by her parents, Pearl Fuce-Vickers and David Fuce; maternal grandparents, John Green, Annie Green Koonce and Loonie Koonce; paternal grandparents, Solomon and Annie Fuce; uncles, Edward, John and David Green; special uncle, Benjamin F. Green; and nephews, Keith Daniels, Tavarus Foster, & Tamarius Matson. Alisa leaves a legacy of love to her devoted daughters, Victoria A. Taylor and Vakesha L. Taylor (fiancé Derek Weathers), both of Prairie View, Texas; sisters and brothers, Pamela (Robert) Matson, Brenda Fuce-Hall, David (Judy) Fuce, Desiree' Fuce, Linda P. Fuce, all of Palatka; Marilyn Fuce, Riverside, CA, Charlotte (USN Chief Petty Officer Marvin) Knowles, Jr., Norfolk, VA, "Raised as sisters" Adriane (William) Bartley, Palatka; Wanda (Charles) Norris, Spokane, WA, Robin (Victor) Wright, Jacksonville, FL; mother-in-law, Ophelia Taylor, Atlanta, GA; aunts, Agnes Vickers, Mary Alice Kirkland, Dr. Annie (Dr. Elijah) Jackson, Evelyn S. Green, and Willie R. Martin, all of Palatka; Ruth G. Wright and Lillian G. Wright, both of Jacksonville; uncles, Willie A. Green and Wesley Green, both of Tampa, James "Buddy" Fuce, Palatka; and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, March 9 at the "Chapel of Serenity". Homegoing Celebration will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10th at the "Chapel of Serenity". Reverend Frederick T. Demps, pastor of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Palatka, is the eulogist. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery, Palatka
