IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alicia
Bailey
December 8, 1919 – June 26, 2018
Alicia "Ali" Bailey, 98, of Palm Coast, entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at her residence. A native of Banes, Oriente, Cuba, the eldest daughter of Ismael Bailey and Agatha Thomas, born on Monday, December 8, 1919. As the eldest child, Ali became a defacto mother for her younger siblings, and consequently abandoned her primary education to assist her mother financially, by working as a Nanny at the early age of 13. Alicia was of the Catholic faith. In the English-speaking emigrant community with a culture similar to Jamaica or Barbados, she met the love of her life, Wilfredo "Willisto" Williams in 1945, and from their union, one daughter, Silvia, was born in 1948. Willisto was heavily involved in politics and on his way back from a "Political Rally," he was the victim of a fatal automobile accident, after which no other man entered her life.
Alicia then worked for many years as a cook for a United Fruit Company manager of a large swath of cane fields. Going back and forth to this job in the middle of nowhere was an adventure, which she kept on doing until in 1966; her youngest sister talked Alicia into joining her in the United States. Alicia migrated to the United States with her mother and daughter moving close to her family in Brooklyn, New York.
In 1976, the family decided to move to Queens, where she would live with Silvia, her husband, Alberto and daughter, Jennifer and Alberto's mother, Ruby. The family enjoyed vacationing and would often visit Florida, where they fell in love with the small town of Palm Coast. In 1989, the family relocated to Palm Coast where she lived until the Lord called her home where she resided.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by all of her siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories: daughter, Silvia (Alberto) Jones; granddaughter , Jennifer; great-grandchild , Majour Emanuel; nieces, Veronica, Anne Marie; nephews, Ricardo, Andres; step-granddaughters , Isabel, Jony, Mirelys; step-great grandsons, Carlos, Aaron.
