IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alfred Raye
Floyd
July 9, 1968 – January 3, 2023
Alfred Raye Floyd, the son of Larry Corbin and Levonia Holsey, was born on Tuesday, July 9, 1968, in Withams, VA. Raye spent some of his high school years playing football in New Jersey at Lawrenceville High School. He later relocated to Florida where his outgoing personality and likable spirit was projected at Palatka High School. After earning his GED, Raye continued his education at Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, FL. He was knowledgeable with most topics and enjoyed a profound debate with anyone who was willing to engage. Raye became the proud father to his one and only child, Sharae', on Tuesday, October 27, 1987. Sometime after her marriage, Sharae and her husband blessed Raye with 4 grandsons and 1 granddaughter, whom he cherished dearly. Miami, Florida was Raye's next stop, where he met his Jamaican Beauty, Karry Floyd. Over time, their love grew, and they decided to unite as one before God on Tuesday, May 13, 2003.
Within the span of his diverse occupational career, Raye worked with his grandfather, Wilmer Gilyard Sr., and uncle, Shelton "Keith" Gilyard Sr., as a seasonal migrant worker for several years. Raye continued to demonstrate his skills as a hard worker throughout his adult career with the following job titles: Pipe Fitter, State of Delaware, Waste Management employee, Delaware; Farm Manager, Donald Patterson Farms, New Jersey; Housing Authority Maintenance Coordinator, City of New Brunswick.
Over the years, Raye often fellowshipped at New Bethel A.M.E. Church of San Mateo and his heart exhibited pure love. Alfred "Raye" Floyd's personality would light up a room as he loved to smile, dance, and "Got oh mighty know" he could dress. Raye never met a stranger, he connected with everyone as though they were his friend or relative. Raye, who renamed himself "Allstate," enjoyed traveling, not just for work, but also to experience life's multiple viewpoints. Although Mr. "Allstate" was the name he preferred, the love and joy Raye has given will forever be remembered in the lives of family and friends in all states.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in eternal rest by his paternal grandparents, Levi and Alice Corbin; maternal grandparents, Wilmer and Georgian Gilyard, Sr.; aunt, Diana Matthews; uncle, Rodney (Cynthia) Gilyard.
Alfred "Raye" Floyd entered the sunset of life on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at his NJ residence.
