Aldrena P. Lowe Isom-Hunter, Sr., 67, of Palatka, entered the sunset of life on Friday, April 30th at Haven Hospice Roberts Care Center following an extended illness. She was born Monday, Febuary 1, 1943 in Perry, Florida to Benjamin F. and Ethel (Merritte) Lowe. Aldrena has resided in Palatka for 65 years and was educated in the Putnam County School District (Central Academy High School, Class of 1961). She was a longtime consumer electronics machine operator at General Electrics Alachua battery plant (later purchased by Gates Energy Products, Energizer Power Systems, and subsequently Moltech Power Systems). Aldrena retired as a machine operator at Tensolite/Carlisle Interconnect Technologies in St. Augustine on June 6, 2008. She was a member of the Palatka Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses. Aldrena enjoyed reading, shopping, traveling, spending time with her family and she especially loved spoiling her grandchildren.
Preceding Aldrena in eternal rest includes her husband, Toney A. Hunter (January 20, 2009) and two sisters, Veronica Jackson and Annie Frank Collins.
She leaves to cherish her legacy of love: Sons, Kenneth Isom (Robin Wright), Palatka; SFC Keith (Amelia) Isom, U.S. Army Ft. Jackson, SC; Parents, Benjamin F. (Ethel L.) Lowe, Palatka; Brother, Bobby Lowe, Orlando; Sisters, Erma Brown, St. Augustine, FL; Glenda Rea Braswell, Daytona Beach; Uncle, Curitis Lowe, Palatka; 5 grandchildren, Brittany Isom, Daytona Beach; Maleka Baker, St. Augustine; Anthony Isom, San Antonio, TX; Issaiah Starr-Jenkins and Benjahmin Isom both of Ft. Jackson, SC; step-son, Barry L. (Valerie) Hunter, East Palatka; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Annie Hill and Dan (Annie) Hunter, all of Palatka; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and caring friends.
Visitation of family and friends will be 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 7 at The Chapel of Serenity. A Remembrance Celebration will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 8 at the Palatka Congregation Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses, 201 Mission Road, Palatka, Elder Joe Skidmore, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill West Cemetery.
The cortege will assemble 10 a.m. Saturday at the Hunter familys residence, 422 West Pine Street, Palatka.
