Obituary

Aldosia Gore Bailey, 81, retired homemaker and longtime Jacksonville (eastside) resident, entered the sunset of life on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at the Riverwood Nursing Center, Jacksonville, following an extended illness. A native of Lake City, she was the daughter of Vance and Minnie Bell Gore, born April 22, 1927. She was united in marriage to Allen Brown Bailey, Sr., and to this union, two daughters and four sons were born, whom she loved dearly. In her early years, she was a devoted worker until her health prevailed. Her church affiliation was Greater Payne A.M.E. Church. In addition to her husband and parents, Aldosia was preceded in eternal rest by her daughter, Dorothy Jean Bailey; five sisters, Lucille Donaldson, Mary Singleton, Effie Flagg-Smith, Queen Howard, & Dorcas Gore; three brothers, John Henry Leggett, Alphonso Gore, & Lawrence Jim Williams. To cherish her memories: four sons, Allen Brown William Bailey, Jr., Ulysses Grant Bailey, John L. Bailey, and Larry L. Bailey; daughter and son-in-law, Aldosia & Audrie Sails, all of Jacksonville; 9 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation of family and friends will be Friday, July 25th, from 5-7 p.m. at Greater Payne A.M.E. Church, 1230 Claudia Spencer Street, Jacksonville. Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, July 26th, 10 a.m. at Greater Payne with Rev. Tan C. Moss, Senior Pastor, eulogist, and her nephew, Rev. Karl N. Flagg, pastor of Mt. Tabor First Baptist Church, Palatka, will officiate. Interment will be Monday, July 28th, 10 A.M. in Oak Hill East Cemetery, Palatka.
