IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Alberta
Wesley
March 10, 1962 – January 31, 2021
Alberta Shelton "Bert" Wesley, 58, of Seville, entered the sunset of life on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at AdventHealth, Deland. A native of Fitzgerald, GA, she was the daughter of Leroy and Mamie Jane (Edmond) Shelton, born on Saturday, March 10, 1962. Alberta grew up with her only sibling, Claretha. They were a tight knit family where disputes were not allowed amongst the two. At an early age, Alberta moved with her family to Crescent City. She became a member of Old Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership and guidance of the honorable Reverend E. L. Yorker, Sr. There she began singing the gospel in the youth choir. As the years went by and the church moved to its current location (Old Hwy 17), Alberta became known as "One of the Song Birds of the South." She was president of the New Elizabeth Fellowship Choir for over 1 decade. Along with her father she was lead singer of the family gospel group "The Mighty Gospel Soul Singers." Alberta was educated in the Putnam County School District at Crescent City High School, Class of 1980. She attended Angeles College and Florida Technical College. She was employed by Millers Enterprise, Millers and Hitchcock Supermarkets as a manager. Later, she was employed at Hastings Youth Academy and Putnam County School District Transportation. Subsequently, she began her nursing career as a patient technician at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine accumulating 14 years of service. Alberta will be missed for her kindred spirit, warm smile, and her voice; singing heavenly songs of Zion (and she did it well)! She loved her family and was a friend to many.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in eternal rest by her sister, Claretha Shelton; niece, Ywanda "Meka" Oxendine.
She leaves to cherish her memories: children , Turkessa Wesley, Leesburg; Taakelia (Lavone) Fulton Addison, Waheeda (Adarius) Wesley, Joseph Wesley, Jr., all of Crescent City; Vandell Fulton, Gainesville; grandchildren , Demonte Wesley, Antwan Fulton, Trayvone Addison, Vandell Fulton, Jr., Vaniya Fulton, Ka'Naja Jones, Lavone Addison, Jr., Ariyah Baker; adopted sisters, Joyce (Nero) Jones, Marlene (Micheal, Sr.) Scott; adopted brother, Dwight (Tina) Milton, Sr.; and a host of godchildren, god-sisters, god-brothers, other relatives and friends.
