Agnes D.
Alexander
February 23, 1944 – May 15, 2011
Agnes Deloris Black Alexander, 67, of Palatka entered the sunset of life on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at St. Vincents Medical Center in Jacksonville following a brief illness. A native of Dania, Florida, she was the daughter of Jesse and Nora (Bradley) Black, born on Wednesday, February 23, 1944. As the eleventh of thirteen children, Agnes began to worship the Lord in her childhood years at St. Ruth Baptist Church in Dania. In 1962, Agnes graduated from Attucks High School (Broward County) and in 1966 she earned her B.A. in Education at Bethune-Cookman College. During college, she met and subsequently following graduation, married Abe Alexander, and together they have one son, Patrick. Agnes was a twenty-six year devoted educator in the Putnam County School District, retiring as a reading lab instrutor at Browning Pearce Elementary School. Agnes was a dedicated member of Bethel A.M.E Church of Palatka where she enjoyed singing in the mass choir, worshiping and serving the Lord. In honor of her faithful works, services and gifts, Agnes was crowned Queen of Bethel A.M.E Church in 2009 during the churchs 142nd Anniversary. Through the years, Agnes enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, solving crossword puzzles, constructing jigsaw puzzles, watching TV (especially Lifetime), traveling and, of course, shopping.
